When granting their financial and strategic support with the SEFIT fund, ReThink Ireland set a goal of 800 signups for The Toy Library by the end of 2024. With 1,419 families registered, we’ve achieved an outstanding 177% of this target.

1073 kg of plastic saved equals to:

  • 116,432 plastic bottles. A standard 500 mL plastic water bottle weighs about 9.25 grams. 1073 kg ÷ 9.25 grams = ~116,432 bottles.
  • Volume of one 500 ml bottle: 500 ml = 0.5 liters = 0.0005 cubic meters. Total volume for 116,432 bottles: 58.216cubic meters. A typical large refrigerator holds around 0.5 cubic meters. The total volume of the bottles would be equivalent to the space of about 116 large refrigerators.
  • Weight of a small whale. The Minke whale weighs slightly more than 1 ton.

6438 kg of CO₂e prevented equals to:

  • A one-way flight from New York to London emits about 590 kg of CO₂e per passenger. 6438 kg ÷ 590 kg = 10,9 one-way flights. Source.
  • A standard passenger vehicle emits about 0.24 kg of CO₂e per kilometer.6438 kg ÷ 0.24 kg/km = ~26,825 kilometers (16,674 miles). This is equivalent to driving more than halfway around the Earth (Earth's circumference: ~40,075 km).
  • The average CO₂e emission for electricity in the EU is about 0.23 kg/kWh. Source. 6438 kg ÷ 0.23 kg/kWh = ~27,991 kWh. This is equivalent to the electricity consumption of an average EU household for about 7,5 years (assuming 3,700 kWh/year). Source.
